Enrico Gagliardi

Enrico Gagliardi formerly of Clifton Heights, PA, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. He was 78 years old and was the beloved husband of the late Rosalia Gagliardi.

Born on July 10, 1947, in Solofra, a town in the Campania region of Italy, Enrico was one of eight children born to Annunziata Vignola and Carlo Gagliardi. As a teenager, he began working at a bakery in Solofra, developing the skills and work ethic that would shape the rest of his life.

Enrico emigrated to the United States and made his home in Philadelphia. It was at an Italian dance at St. Rita's Church in South Philadelphia that he met the love of his life, Lia Coppola. The two married in 1971 and moved to Clifton Heights, PA where they built a beautiful life together centered on family, hard work, and hospitality.

Enrico worked at Orlando's Bakery, where he specialized in wedding cakes and traditional Italian desserts. He took great pride in his craft and found joy in creating cakes that became part of life's most meaningful celebrations. Seeing others enjoy his work brought him immense happiness.

His love of cooking eventually led Enrico and Lia to open their own catering business in Drexel Hill. Through his food, Enrico expressed his generosity and warmth, always striving to bring people together and make them feel welcome.

A devoted sports enthusiast, Enrico was an avid fan of Italian soccer. On Sundays, he could often be found at Cafe Sportivo in Philadelphia, sipping espresso while watching matches with friends. He also embraced his adopted city's teams and became a passionate Philadelphia Flyers fan. He proudly recalled being among the many fans who rushed onto the ice when the Flyers won the Stanley Cup in 1974. He held season tickets high in the very last row of the Spectrum, cheering on his beloved team.

Above all else, Enrico was a devoted family man. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and believed deeply in maintaining the connection to his Italian roots. He made sure his daughters had the opportunity to know and love their family in Italy, and the family spent many treasured summers in Solofra creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Enrico is survived by his loving daughters, Nancy (Chris) and Melissa (Jorge); and by the lights of his life, his cherished grandchildren, Emilia, Enzo, and Christopher, whom he loved with all his heart. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters in Italy, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

For the last six years of his life, Enrico resided at Rosewood Gardens in Broomall. His family is deeply grateful to the nurses and staff, whose kindness, compassion, and exceptional care brought comfort to Enrico and those who loved him.

Enrico will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his passion for cooking and baking, his love of sports, and the joy he found in bringing people together around the table. His generous spirit, infectious smile, and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are welcome to gather in remembrance of Enrico on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at O'Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd. Springfield, PA 19064. Funeral Service Monday 11am in the funeral home. Burial SS Peter and Paul Cemetery. In keeping with Enrico's joyful spirit and love of life, the family kindly invites those attending to wear cheerful colors rather than traditional black attire.
