Elizabeth T. "Betty" (Rinick) Christie

Elizabeth T. (nee Rinick) Christie, 91, of Springfield, PA, formerly of South Philadelphia, passed away August 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved and devoted wife of the late Samuel R. Christie. Devoted mother of Kathleen (Vincent) Minnucci, Cynthia Jenkins, Samuel (Karen), Michael (Jackie), Elizabeth Ann (Edward) Pierce and daughter-in-law Christine. Cherished Grandmother to 30 Grandchildren and 59 Great-Grandchildren plus 3 on the way.

Predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers, her daughter June Christie Murray, her son Kevin Christie and grandson Thomas Murray.

Betty, Mom, Grandmom, Grandmom Betty was a devout Catholic dedicated to the Blessed Mother and praying the rosary daily. She was a member of St. Kevin’s Parish in Springfield and in her later years proudly served as an altar server. She truly loved her fellow parishioners. Her faith was her guiding light throughout her life. She volunteered to teach in the CCD Program at OLPH parish while raising her children. She worked at Bell Telephone right out of High School (West Catholic Girls), before having a family and raising 7 children with her beloved husband Sam (Pop). She returned to work at the Franklin Mint until she retired when Pop started his battle with Leukemia.

She enjoyed summers at the shore, reading a good book and traveling with Pop. She hosted many family gatherings and later attending the many family events over the years from birthdays, graduations, sacraments and weddings for her many Grandchildren and Greats. Grandmom Betty's eyes lit up when she was around the little ones. She was the most tech savvy 91 year old and all loved her emojis at the end of a text message.

Betty treated everyone she met with kindness and compassion up to the final moments of her life. Her strong faith was evident in her final days, as she made her final journey home to her loving God.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Friday August 29, 2025, 9:30am, Church of St. Kevin, 200 W. Sproul Rd. Springfield, PA 19064 and to her Funeral Mass 11AM in the Church. Int. SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to St. Kevin’s Church.
