Eileen E Buckley, {Morgan} 79, of Aldan, PA, passed away on July 25, 2024, in Milton, FL where she had been recovering from a recent surgery, and developed pneumonia, and passed away quietly with her Florida family by her bedside.
Eileen was born on May 20, 1945, to the late Louis & Kathleen (Story) Morgan, of Philadelphia, PA, and grew up on Yocum Street, in Philadelphia, where she spent her younger years with her 3 sisters, Marylou, Kass (Kathleen), and Buff (Gloria). Sharing an unbreakable bond with her sisters, as well as her bonus siblings, "The Cousins", who lived only doors away. Growing up with her family all around, she developed relationships with each member of her family, that they took into adulthood, creating precious memories and creating special bonds with each, that lasted a lifetime.
Eileen graduated from West Catholic High School for Girls, in Philadelphia, PA, in 1964. Eileen married Tom Sullivan (m.1967, d.1986), and together with him, raised their two children, Kathleen (Mark), and Tom (Tya) on Fanshawe St, in Philadelphia, Pa, creating a warm and loving family, in which her children grew up, knowing they were loved, and were her highest priority. Even as times got rough, she always put her children's needs before her own, working long hours, so her children would not go without. She was able to find love again, when she met and married Donald Buckley, of Collingdale, PA. Together these two created many wonderful, lasting memories often involving some live Irish music, or a football game. Many a Saturday afternoon, you would find her, just as, if not more involved in the game, cheering on Notre Dame, The Fighting Irish. (Her enthusiasm was infectious, and she instilled a love for the team in her family.) Together, Donald and she travelled, and often saw The Fighting Irish play live. One of her fondest memories was a trip they shared to Ireland. Her devotion to family next led her & her sister, Kass, to care for their parents. Some wonderful traditions began on Magnolia Street, in Aldan, Pa. Here family & friends could always be found. Many happy moments were created on this street, bringing together the warmth and togetherness of family and friends. You could count on Much laughter coming from this house, as it would be the heart of the family.
As she lived her life, working at Giant in Aldan, she met friends that would become family, and family that became friends, who continued to be a constant part of her life. She was immensely proud of her family and treasured the countless gatherings with her cousins. Her Sunday dinners at MaryBeth's were one of the highlights of her weekend. The "Dopes of the Slopes" annual trip up the mountains, with "the Cousins" was something she planned for every year. These trips brought her so much fun, and she'd be laughing, singing, playing cards all weekend surrounded by great people, and often great food.
Of course, her Friday night dinners, with 'The Girls' was also a night she couldn't miss. Sue, Kathy, Shirley, Sally, (Carol, Kay, Winny, Ann)-any, all, or more may be included in their weekly dinner and drinks. They always seemed to fill up the restaurant with more people who she knew and would be anxious to introduce you too. Another trip she often looked forward to, was Irish Weekend, in Wildwood, NJ. Every September, in Wildwood, NJ, she could be found, The Anglesea, Keenans, Moores, Flip Flops, or wherever there was live Irish music going on, she could be found. She just embraced life, enjoyed these times and looked forward to celebrating again each year.
While enjoying retirement, she also loved being outside, enjoying the fresh air, listening too music, as well as spending time with one of her best friends (for she had many), in Delaware at 'Kathys Shore House' as she often referred to it as. Kathy, along with Tony, and perhaps another friend or 2, always had a good time, and she may have tried her best to stay out of trouble, but not always succeeding. The love and laughter, as well as the relaxed feeling these trips gave her were times that she really enjoyed. Especially out on the pontoon.
These last few years of her life were spent basking in the Florida sunshine. Her grandson Mark, and his family invited her to share their home, in Pace, Fl (a suburb of Pensacola, Fl) and in their home many happy memories were created with her great grandchildren, whom she saw every day. Her final few months, saw her life change once again as she was able to spend each day with Her children, Kathleen (Mark), and Tom (Tya), in a home they shared in Milton, FL (minutes away from Mark & Jenn, and her precious great grandchildren). If she was not outside in the Florida sunshine, she was probably "pressing off" something. She loved to stand and iron. Maybe it was something to wear to church, although, her t-shirts always had a crisp edge.
Her Catholic faith was important to her, and she counted on her faith to get her through tough times. Her sense of humor was such a part of her, as well as her generous heart, always giving to charities, or to anyone who asked. You would often hear her bragging about how well taken care of she was, and how happy she was, but it was really her children, and grandchildren, who were the lucky ones, to be able to spend these days with her, and appreciate what a gift they were given , and to have had this woman as a mother, grandmother, mom mom, sister, friend all these years, We were the Lucky Ones! She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, and Kass, her sister.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Krause, Mark), and Tom (Sullivan, Tya). As well as her sisters, Marylou (McCloskey, Joe), and Buff, (Kuzmick). The Schieler "Cousins", who were more like brothers and sisters, include, Richard (Margie), David (Karen), Fred (Cathy), Marybeth English (Paul), Sharon Fagioli (Bruce), Michael (Eileen), Brother Robert Schieler. Her legacy lives on through her seven beloved grandchildren, Kayla (Dan Randolph), Mark Joseph Krause (Jennifer), Matthew Krause, William Sullivan (Nicole), Brenna Sullivan (Bryant), Stephen Sullivan (Cari) and Gabriella Gallagher (JP). Each of them holds a special place in her heart, and she took great pride in their achievements and lives. She is also the proud MomMom of 9 Great Grandchildren, Brandon, Leo,Paddy, Keelee, Hannah, Arya, Amyra, Norah, LaMont.
She brought light and joy to everyone she met, embodying a spirit that could brighten any room and energize any gathering with her vivacious presence. The days spent with friends and family brought her immense joy and were a testament to her love for family and togetherness. Her light, laughter and love will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Eileen's spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will always be remembered for the joy she brought into their lives. You'll be missed, more than we can express...- "HEY BABY, LET THE FREE BIRDS FLY!!"
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation Saturday, October 19, 2024 10am St. Eugene Church, 200 S. Oak Ave. Primos, PA 19018 and to her Funeral Mass 11am in the Church. Burial Private.
