Edward John Wood, age 60, of Philadelphia, PA passed away peacefully on April 15, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
The son of John Wood Sr. and Kathleen Margaret (nee: Dougherty) Gandley. Eddie was born in South Philadelphia and was a 40-year resident of Springfield PA. He attended Springfield High School and then went on to attend Rets Electronic Institute where he trained in computer systems repair then immediately went to work at Gateway Computers and Dell Computers. Eddie always had a strong love/passion for cooking and decided to leave the computer industry to train at the culinary institute of Philadelphia. After graduation, he became a Sous Chef at Pyrenees Restaurant in Queen Village where his Famous Duck Chambord Sauce won awards by Philly Magazine. He remained in the food industry for the next 30 years. He loved everything about the city, particularly his beloved Philadelphia Eagles, and attended the games for 30 years as a season ticket holder along with a host of family members. Eddie loved going to Sea Isle City, NJ for family vacations and spending time and taking care of the people who he loved dearly. He was also a member of the South Philly Group and Weekenders where he was of service to his fellows. Eddie is predeceased by his Grandparents; Joseph and Helen (nee: Clark) Wood Sr., Joseph and Cecelia (nee: Hannigan) Dougherty.
Eddie is survived by his parents; John (Lorraine) Wood Sr. and Kathleen Margaret (the late Robert P.) Gandley. Devoted brother of John Wood Jr, Robert (Lisa) Wood Sr., Kathleen (Lisa) Wood. Loving uncle to Robert Wood Jr. and Julianna Wood, along with countless aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Saturday, April 23, 2022 9am St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Avenue, Springfield PA, 19064 and to his Funeral Mass 10am in the Church. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
