David J. Kerl, Age 65 of Drexel Hill, PA passed away November 11, 2021.
Dave was a member of the Aronimink Swim Club for over 50 years. He was on the diving team as a teenager, then went on to coach diving. He truly loved the pool and the many friends he met there.
Dave was retired from Amtrak where he was a heavy equipment operator, he referred to the equipment as ‘his toys’. He loved his job and his Amtrak family, and kept in touch with many of them after he retired.
Dave had a nickname for everyone, and many of his family and friends had a nickname for him (Ex. Butch, Kenny Rogers, Animal, Fred Flinstone, uncle Scratchy).
He loved rock n roll music and laughing with friends and family. He was at his happiest if he was giving you something, whether it was a flashlight, or buying you a beer, he would literally give you the shirt off his back.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Kerl (Wagner), his daughter Katie Kerl, Sister Betty Kropp (husband Walt), sister Barbara Tretheway (husband David), brother Kevin Kerl (wife Connie), as well as many nieces and nephews.
There will not be a public viewing or funeral ceremony, rather, a ‘celebration of life’ (buffet-style luncheon) will be held on Wed Nov 17th 1pm Springfield Country Club, 400 W Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA 19064
If Dave was a friend to you, please feel welcome to attend and celebrate Dave.
