Charles "Bud" Simmonds

Charles “Bud” Simmonds of Lansdowne, PA, passed away March 14, 2020. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a graduate of St. Alice School in Upper Darby, Monsignor Bonner High School and Villanova University. Bud taught English at Monsignor Bonner High School and then worked at Philadelphia National Bank and Lockheed Martin.

Bud was a coach for many years for St. Alice CYO. He also coached his children’s sports in the Lansdowne Boys and Girls Club and St. Charles CYO. In 2002, Bud was inducted into the PA Sports Hall of Fame, Delaware County Chapter.

More recently he organized gatherings of old friends from Bonner High School, and the “Boys of St. Alice”, who would meet every few months to remember and enjoy the good old days. Bud enjoyed reading, watching old movies and listening to the oldies. He was an expert at trivia and could answer almost any question on entertainment, sports and American History.

His other favorite pastimes were following Villanova Basketball, the Phillies, and the Eagles. But most of all he just loved being with his family.

Beloved husband of Marilyn (nee Negro). Devoted father of Chuck (Joann), Sharon Simmonds-Whitehead (Craig), and Maria Simmonds-Willis (Justin). Loving grandfather of Anna Simmonds, and Daniel and Michael Young. Brother of Joan Corcoran and the late Claire Sheehan.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing, Saturday March 21, 2020 9:30am St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3422 Dennison Ave., Drexel Hill, PA 19026 and to his Funeral Mass 10:30am in the Church. Int. SS Peter & Paul Cem. In lieu of flowers, contributions appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or Providence Animal Center, 555 Sandy Bank Rd., Media PA 19063.
