Cathryn “Cate” Cecelia (Smith) Hagan

Cathryn “Cate” Cecelia (nee Smith) Hagan, age 60, of Springfield, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2021 at home.

She was born on April 10, 1960 in Darby, PA to Edward and Margaret (Cairnes) Smith. She was a 1978 graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School. She married Robert Hagan March 21, 1987. She worked as an Accounts Payable Supervisor at Villanova University. After raising her children and volunteering at Taylor Hospice, Cate returned to work at the Delaware County Courthouse in various administrative duties. Cate truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; music, reading, hosting friends and family and trips to her beloved Ocean City, NJ as well as her O’Boyle roots in Ballina, County Mayo Ireland. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother and the rosary. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

Cathryn is survived by her husband Robert, her sons Thomas and James (Amanda); her daughter Alexis; two sisters Maureen (Richard) Laughead and Margaret (William) Kaeser and 10 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Eleanor (Patrick) Toal.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Thursday January 14, 2021 9:30 am Holy Cross Church, 651 E. Springfield Rd., Springfield, PA 19064 and to her Funeral Mass 11 am in the Church. Int.
