Catherine M. McNichol (nee Shea), ‘Mom-Mom’, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Riddle Hospital surrounded by family. She died as she lived, engaged with and thinking of others. Cass was a strong life force who inspired those she met. Sharp-minded and consistently up to date with world events, she was a reservoir of family lore. She always remembered important little details about people, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Up to the end, she regaled hospital staff with lively stories about family and friends.
Cass held a deep Catholic faith throughout her life. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, she was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish and later St. Edmond’s. She resided in Springfield, Delaware County for 48 years, belonging to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Morton, PA. She was also a dedicated and beloved retired employee of CADES where special needs children loved her tremendously.
Predeceased by her loving husband Thomas who died in 1989, Cass is survived by 3 children, Thomas (Louise), Kathleen Hamill Clark (late James), and Marianne Johenning (Michael), 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
