Our sweet angelic sister took her earthly wings to the next level as she flew to her heavenly resting place during the early morning hours of January 12, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Catherine “Cathy” Marie Dowd, 70, was born on July 4th in Philadelphia. That was the most perfect day ever for her birthday as Cathy embraced that day and every other day with the same level of excitement we all feel on this national holiday. So it is easy to understand why she was the brightest spot in our family’s lives.
Cathy was a lifetime resident of Delaware County and held various jobs where she excelled in creating a lifetime of happy moments for herself and others. She was a creative artist and collector coveting her troll, Raggedy Ann and vintage English stuffed bear collections. Every holiday was perfectly decorated for Cathy. But she always waited in anticipation for the next holiday reveal which was done exquisitely for Cathy by her sister Marie Theresa.
Cathy was predeceased by her parents, William and Dolores (Kurek) Dowd. She is survived by her sisters Dolores Callahan and Marie Theresa Shapiro and brother William (Colleen) Dowd. She is also cherished by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass, Saturday, January 25, 2025 10:30 AM Our Lady of Fatima, 1 Fatima Dr, Secane, PA 19018. Int. SS.Peter & Paul Cemetery Springfield, PA.
Cathy’s legacy was one of perseverance, resilience, sacrifice, strength and love. Though her absence will be deeply felt by many for the rest of our own lives, we promise her spirit will continue to fight to help others and make a difference. That was the essence of Cathy’s kindness and love.
