Carole A. (Monroe) Kime

June 22, 1938 ~ August 6, 2023 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Obituary

Carole (nee Monroe) Coleman, Rosemann, Kime, of Clifton Heights passed away suddenly at the age of 85 in the early morning hours of August 6, 2023, at Lankenau Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 22, 1938 in Chester City, Delaware County, she was the eldest daughter of the late Vera Sharpley and James Monroe.

Carole’s family moved often while she was growing up and they eventually moved to New Jersey where she attended Haddonfield High School. While raising her three children in Stonehurst Hills, Upper Darby, Carole waitressed at the Country Squire, the Llanerach Diner, and Charlotte’s restaurant. She then changed course and left the food service industry to spend the last 20 years of her career working at the Bryn Mawr Hospital in the medical records department. It was there that she developed and taught a class on medical terminology for years. Many new employees from Bryn Mawr and Lankenau hospitals were first acquainted to her during those years. She declined the opportunity to teach her course at Haverford College when the offer was made to her. She retired in 2007.

Carole was an avid baseball fan. She loved watching the Fightin’ Phils and eagerly awaited the World Series in the fall. She looked forward to getting together with family and friends to watch the Eagles on Sunday afternoons, and she always made sure she had a bet on the winning horse at the Kentucky Derby. Carole and her husband, John, loved to travel, go the movies, including classic movies How Green was My Valley and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and attend theatre productions with family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed books immensely throughout her life including fiction and nonfiction alike.

She loved her family fiercely and would selflessly do anything to make their lives better. She always found the time to counsel and share her thoughts with family members when they would seek out her advice and wisdom, which was often. Carole had a soft spot for all animals especially cats and dogs. She always had a cat by her side or a dog, often she had both. She was a champion for every animal, near and far, regularly sending multiple donations to improve the care these animals received.

Carole was a devout Catholic and attended Saint Cyril of Alexandria church in East Lansdowne for many years before moving to Holy Cross parish in 2000. She rarely missed mass in her later years. She and John prepared meals for the less fortunate, and often dropped off care packages to those in need.

Carole was predeceased by her parents, Vera and James, her sister, Eileen Queflander, her husband Charles H. Rosemann (died 1981), and her ex-husband Thomas R. Coleman, Sr. Left to honor Carole and remember her love are her devoted husband, John T. Kime; her three children: Deborah A. Lignore (Joseph), Thomas R. Coleman (Louise), and Linda L.
