Carmen Christiana, Jr. Obituary

Carmen J. Christiana, Jr., 86, son of the late Carmen and Mary (nee Marino) Christiana, passed peacefully on to the Lord on Friday, June 12, 2026. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Carmen graduated St. Thomas More High School in 1957. He joined the USAF following graduation, serving during the Vietnam era. He was given the USAF Commendation Medal for helping to save three Okinawan fisherman whose boat sank in the ocean.

After his service time, he worked construction and received an associate degree in business from Widener University. Then after 27 years, Carmen retired from Boeing Helicopter in 2002.
Carmen was a member of Holy Cross parish for 60 years. He played trombone with the DeLaSalle String Band Orchestra and the Legends Band of SCS. He was a member of American Legion Post 358 in Clifton Heights and the Italian American War Vets Post 16.

Most important to Carmen was his family. He was devoted to his wife Dee, as well as his children, grandchildren, and extended family. He was a loving husband, father, and Pop-pop who adored, and was adored by, his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Throughout his life, Carmen loved family gatherings, home cooked meals, watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and other activities, as well as travelling. His grandchildren are his legacy, and he left lasting impressions on the individuals they are today. Carmen will be remembered for his devotion to his family, as well as his character, outgoing nature, optimism, wit, and laughter.

Carmen leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Dolores “Dee” (nee Iachino), his children Lisa (Joe), Michele, Vincent (Monica), and Michael. He was blessed to have seven grandchildren brighten his life, Ryan (Connie), Vincent, Nick, Carmen, Aidan, Kylee, and Michael, and two great- grandchildren, Mila Rose and Roman Joseph whom he adored. He is also survived by his sister, Theresa Jackson, his brothers Phil and Ralph, his nephews and nieces, his godchildren, his many wonderful cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Thelia, and brothers Joe and Nicholas.

Though Carmen will be dearly missed every day here on earth, we are eternally thankful for the beautiful memories and lessons he selflessly imparted on us. We take comfort in the fact that our patriarch, Carmen Christiana, like the guardian he was on earth, is now our guardian angel – watching, guiding, and smiling over us.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Wednesday, June 24, 2026, 9:30 AM at Holy Cross Church, 651 E. Springfield Road, Springfield, PA 19064, and to his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in the Church. Int. Private.
