Carl E. Drake

Carl Drake, 76 of Broomall passed away peacefully on July 28th 2023.  Born in Kingston Pa to the late Worthy and Mable Drake.  He was a graduate of Interboro High School in Delaware County and went on to serve and be Honorably Discharged as a Lance Corporal from the United States Marine Core.  

Carl was a life time member of both the Norwood and Broomall Fire Companies.  While active with the Norwood Fire Company he became one of the youngest Assistant Chiefs in Delaware County at the age of 21.  While active in the Broomall Fire Company Carl held many positions including Chief from 1994-1997, 2004-2005 and 2008-2013.  His love and knowledge of the fire service lead him to become an adjunct professor at Delaware County Community College teaching an Incident Command course. Carl also spent several years as a fire inspector in Media, Delaware County.   Along with his love of the fire service he was also an owner and avid trainer of German Shepard Dogs; having owned certified search and rescue dogs as well as trained therapy dogs.

Father to Amy (Jeff) Burke and Dan (Colleen) Drake, Grandfather to Hailey and Alison Burke and Mackenzie and Gavin Drake. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Viewing Friday Aug. 4, 2023 10am O'Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Road, Springfield PA 19064 and to his Funeral Service 12pm in the Funeral Home. Burial private. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Broomall Fire Company and/or the Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund.
