Angelina Saggiomo Obituary

Angelina Mary Saggiomo (known to all as Angie), 93, of Upper Darby, passed away peacefully with her children at her side on December 9, 2025.

She was the only child of the late William and Mary Ambrosine and a proud daughter of South Philadelphia who never forgot her roots.

Angie was the cherished wife of the late Joseph A. Saggiomo, Jr., her first and only love. She is survived by her loving children Patrice H. Werner and William R. Saggiomo and dear son-in-law Clifford C. Werner, in addition to nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

She attended St. Paul’s Parochial School and was a loyal graduate, Class of 1951, of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School, faithfully paying her Alumnae Association dues every year. Out of high school she worked as a secretary for a furniture company and then in later years, after raising her children, was an employee of ARAMark for over 25 years.

Angie loved her home and neighborhood and lived in the same house in Upper Darby for close to 70 years. She took great pride in keeping a neat, clean house and was a fantastic cook and baker. She was famous for her great variety of Christmas cookies that she gifted to everyone. She could also crochet beautifully and made countless baby blankets, afghans and scarves for family and friends alike.

In their retirement years, she and her Joe sailed on a few cruises, enjoyed the Atlantic City casinos, the Wildwood beaches and the lovely country side of Lancaster County.

Angie was very sociable, a real people person. She loved nothing better than to be around her family and her many friends. She loved to have company over the house. She never refused an invitation to bridal or baby showers, weddings or baptisms, First Holy Communions, holiday gatherings and any other social event given by family or friends. She loved to get dressed up and go out and would select her outfit and jewelry the day before.

She loved to talk on the phone to family and friends, liked to read the newspaper and enjoyed Danielle Steel paperback novels.

Angie collected elephants and angels, a lot of them. She loved to shop....Boscov’s, Kohl’s, the old K-Mart, Home Goods and, of course, the dollar store.

Angie found great joy and companionship in all the family dogs over the years...lovable Beau, rascal Singin, her little prince Alex and the ever gentle giant Rocky. She waited for summertime to sit outside on the porch with the dog at her feet watching the world go by.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Tuesday, December 16, 2025 9:30am St. Laurence Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082 and to her Funeral Mass Tuesday 10:30am in the Church. Burial SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

Her Catholic faith meant the world to her and sustained her throughout. Angie will be sadly missed not only by her devoted family but also by all who were fortunate to know her. Anyone who wishes, may make a donation in Angie’s memory to: Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters (the ‘Pink Nuns’), Convent of Divine Love, 2212 Green Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130-3197.
