William E. Spohn, 94, of Springfield, PA passed away after a short illness surrounded by his family on August 11, 2019. Bill was a 1942 graduate of Springfield High School. He entered the US Army in March, 1943 and served in the Quartermaster Corps achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Bronze Star during World War II for his actions during combat operations on December 18, 1944 in Liege, Belgium.
Bill spent his professional career as a claims adjuster at Reliance Insurance Company. Bill was an avid golfer and scored a Hole-in-One at Springfield Country Club. He also enjoyed tinkering with cars, working crossword puzzles and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ruth (Rishell), his brothers Thomas (Grenath) and James (Janet) and his wives Lillian, Marie and Elizabeth. He is survived by his children William (Margaret) and Diane (David) and his grandchildren Christopher, Marie, Jennifer (Patrick) and Heather.
