Caroline M. Slaton (Kelly), 77, of Springfield passed away at home with family by her side on April 13th, 2024. Carol was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Margaret S. (Kinsley) Kelly. She was born in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Upper Darby High School, class of 1964. After graduating, she worked as an underwriter. She married her husband, Stan, in 1966 and they had two children, Joe and Cheryl. Carol worked as a bookkeeper for various companies until she retired. She was also the bookkeeper for her husband’s appliance repair business, Slaton’s Appliance Service. Everyone knows she was very organized; she was never without her paperclips, rubber bands, and Post-it notes. When she wasn’t working, Carol enjoyed being involved in the life of a church. When at Holy Cross Church, she taught children and volunteered at the Christmas bazaar. At Springfield Baptist Church, she worked with children as a Sunday school teacher and as a leader in the Awana and Vacation Bible School programs. She also served on several church boards and committees, hosted a Bible study, sang in the choir, and volunteered as a greeter.
Carol was probably the best person you could have had to greet you. She loved to talk and her friendly and outgoing personality always made you feel welcome. Carol enjoyed many things in her life. She loved going on trips to the beach and to Disney World. She enjoyed spending time with friends, going out to dinner, going to plays and outdoor concerts, going to the pool and soaking up the sun, and she always loved a trip to Rita’s water ice. She lived a beautiful life with an open and generous heart, always willing to help others. She will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Beloved wife of 58 years to Stanley Slaton; Loving mother to Joseph Slaton (Sue) and Cheryl Diaddorio; Loving grandmother to Stephanie Donahue (Mickey). She is also survived by her sister Patricia Brooks (Jesse) and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.
